Created by Matt Groening, The Simpsons is an animated sitcom that follows the life of a middle class American family, which originally started off as a number of short animations on the Tracy Ullman show, back in 1987.
The Simpsons later stood on its own two feet in 1989/1990 and premiered as a half-hour comedy series broadcasted by Fox. It currently stands as being the longest-running American animated sitcom to date and has won numerous awards since being first aired, particularly its 24 Emmy Awards, 26 Annie Awards and a Peabody award. The Simpson family, as of 14th January 2000, were also given a star on Hollywood's walk of fame.
